In this episode of LexisNexis® Legal Talk Podcast, host Kiren Chitkara and guest Greg Russo explore the New Aged Care Act and supporting framework, which came into effect on 1 November 2025.
The discussion offers practical insights and highlights the shift from a provider-focused system to a rights-based framework, centred on the dignity, autonomy, and wellbeing of older Australians. Key reforms include the introduction of a Statement of Rights and Statement of Principles, alongside new regulatory and accountability structures that strengthen oversight and quality standards.
The conversation also examines changes to service delivery, with a single entry and assessment framework, changes to financial arrangements for aged care, the launch of the new Support at Home program and the impact that these changes will have for legal practitioners in the succession and elder law space.
