  DECISION ON APPEAL

  STATEMENT OF THE CASE

  Appellant 1 appeals under 35 U.S.C. § 134(a) from a Final Rejection of claims 1-20. We have jurisdiction under 35 U.S.C. § 6(b). We reverse.

  DISCLOSED AND CLAIMED INVENTION

  According to Appellant, the disclosed invention, entitled "Local and General Advertisement Spot Allocations" ( see Title), "relates generally to broadcast media inventory, and more particularly to managing the allocation of broadcast media inventory between local spot blocks and general, or network, inventory" (Spec. P 2). Referring to Figure 1, Appellant's

  [m]edia broadcasting system 100 includes media automation system 110, for example a NexGen(R) automation system, which can be used to control and automate various media broadcast functions; and traffic and billing system 120, for example a Viero(R) traffic system, which may be used to provide control for various traffic and billing functions such as entering and editing orders, and scheduling spots. Media Broadcasting System 100 also includes a general advertisement [*2]  system 122, sometimes referred to as an external advertisement system or a network advertisement system, which may be used for provisioning general advertisement content for broadcast airplay via the traffic and billing system 120. The traffic and billing system 120 and the general advertisement system 122 may communicate via a network interfaces with each other to coordinate local and general advertisement content

  (Spec. P 29).

  1. A system comprising:

  a media automation system including a processing device programmed to play-out media items for broadcast in accordance with a broadcast log;
