Bridget MacMillan - Knowledge & Research Consultant

I am based in Cleveland, Ohio. I have worked at Lexis for over 20 years and have been in the role of KRC the entire time. Before LexisNexis I was the Librarian for Marshall O'Toole Gerstein Murray & Borun, an intellectual property law firm in Chicago, IL. And prior to that, I was a Business Researcher for Ernst & Young, Center for Business Knowledge in Chicago, IL.

“This role is ideal for me - I perceive it as being a librarian for librarians. I assist librarians by troubleshooting challenging research questions with them, or finding answers related to products, or consulting on workflows for a project. Every day is different, and every day is interesting. My creativity and ingenuity are constantly challenged! And I interact with smart and talented people, librarians!”

To maintain balance, I meditate, walk, and practice Pilates. I also read, solve crossword puzzles, and usually have a jigsaw puzzle out and being worked on. I volunteer on the alumnae board of Magnificat High School and on the board of Friends of Mothers & Infants at MetroHealth Hospital. I am the coordinator of family events, friend happenings, and fun adventures!

I am active in many professional associations. She is a member of the Chicago Association of Law Libraries (CALL), the Law Librarians Association of Wisconsin (LLAW), and the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL).

I have presented at local, regional, and national conferences on topics like “60 AI Sites in 60 Minutes,” “Librarians without Space,” “Getting Things Done,” “Speed Networking,” “Patent Research,” and “Inspiration, Perspiration, Celebration!” I have authored articles including “In Praise of Librarianship,” “The Art of Self-Promotion,” “Every Day Relevancy,” and more; as well as articles for AALL Spectrum, including “Finding Inspiration in the Oddest Places,” AALL Spectrum (Vol. 9, No. 8, June 2005), “A Little Imitation Can Go a Long Way,” AALL Spectrum, (Vol. 10, No. 2, November 2005), and “Ask the Experts,” AALL Spectrum, (Vol. 10, No. 5, March 2006).

I received my B.A. in History from Xavier University in Cincinnati and my M.S. in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
