M&A practice will be busy in 2021

2020 began with a mix of optimism and concern among M&A professionals, as international trade concerns, political uncertainty and a range of other factors weighed on an M&A market otherwise buoyed by strong economic fundamentals. Not far into the year, the global pandemic turned those prognostications upside down, and the M&A market, like the broader economy, entered a wild ride. M&A activity ground to a virtual standstill in late spring, but the market rebounded over the second half of the year, with law firms busy counseling on deals that had been paused, and corporate purchases of distressed assets and strategic deals by companies looking to M&A for growth amid tepid sales. Experts expect that momentum to carry into 2021, and law firm M&A groups are preparing for a hefty workload.

M&A practice requires experiential knowledge, a strong understanding of market standards and   the ability to quickly go sideways into ancillary issues affecting the business of the involved companies. As such, M&A practitioners require access to a core set of resources, including guidance, secondary analytical resources, market precedent, current awareness resources and more. LexisNexis® addresses these needs with an industry-leading collection of content and tools.
