Quickly Assess Documents with AI-Generated Summaries in Lexis+®
Did you know that AI-generated document summaries are available directly within the Lexis+® Legal Research experience?
Designed to help researchers quickly understand a document’s substance, these summaries appear within the full-text view of eligible:
- Cases
- Statutes
- Administrative materials
- Litigation documents, including briefs and motions
Researchers can use the summary as a quick orientation before deciding whether—and where—to focus more closely on the full document.

When a Summary May Not Appear
AI-generated summaries are not available for every document. A summary generally will not be displayed when:
The case already includes a court-provided or LexisNexis editorial summary.
The document does not contain enough substantive text to generate a meaningful summary, as may be the case with very short orders or statutory provisions.
These summaries can help streamline the initial document-review process, but researchers should still review the full text and applicable authority before relying on the information.
