This social media manager landed his dream job at LexisNexis

February 24, 2022

Tykori Saunders, social media community manager in our DC office, says their role as a Social Media Community Manager is their dream job. They have a background in statistics and analysis but found their true passion in communications and social media. Tykori joined LexisNexis in 2019 and has made immense contributions!

Presenting on a big stage

Shortly after Tykori started at LexisNexis, they had the opportunity to present at a global Town Hall, where they presented on employee advocacy, social media and the importance of LexisNexis team members sharing LexisNexis content online.

“It was a wonderful conference and it was very well received,” says Tykori. “I had leaders all over the company sending me messages afterwards saying, ‘Great job! I would love to meet you after this. You did a wonderful job explaining; I had no idea the importance of social media and employee advocacy.’ Being able to make that impact and share my smiling face to others was amazing.”

Openness to new ideas

Tykori especially enjoys the freedom and openness to new ideas at work, and loves teaching others. They pitched the idea to put out a weekly publication for pre-curated content.

“When I pitched the idea, it was very well received,” says Tykori. “I started to put out the content and get people engaged, and it branched out to be something more—not just presenting to Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), but also being able to present to leaders and their organizations. Being able to have my contribution heard, as well as share it out, was fantastic. At LexisNexis, every idea matters and every voice matters.”

Embracing Diversity & Inclusion

Bringing their whole self to work and embracing all of their identities is vital for Tykori.

“It feels amazing to know that when I come to work, I don't have to put up a facade,” Tykori says. “Very often, specifically as a Black individual, I have to code switch, but at LexisNexis, I don’t have to. I can be myself and be accepted for who I am.”

Tykori embraces their identities through their involvement in ERGs, including African Ancestry Network and LGBT+/Pride.

“LexisNexis has helped me grow personally by giving me the courage to know that I can speak out and I can speak my mind,” Tykori says. “I’m seen, heard, and also accepted.”

A well-deserved award

For all of their contributions, Tykori was honored with an Our People, Our Strength award.

“I found out that I won through the Inclusion & Diversity Working Group,” Tykori says. “One of our fearless leaders shared that I was being recognized and I couldn't have been happier. It was a surprise to me because I just enjoy doing my work and I enjoy sharing my story. Being recognized and highlighted was just the cherry on top.”

Congratulations to Tykori, and thanks for your excellent work!
