January 15, 2020 (1 min read)

Welcome back to Wellness Wednesday at LexTalk, where we look at a few recent updates on mental health and wellness in the legal industry.

New decade, new you?’s The Recorder has this piece from corporate wellness coach Jonathan Jordan with some tips for busy lawyers to get active and pursue fitness after all those hours hunched over a computer. Jordan urges lawyers to embrace workouts that are efficient in order to get results but also save time. (We say the same thing about legal research!) Check that out here:

Next up, American Lawyer has an event coming up on January 21 in San Francisco at the offices of Wilson Sonsini. CLE credit will be offered for attendance, so check that out here:

Meanwhile, Above The Law’s Joe Patrice reports that BigLaw firm Reed Smith LLP has formed a task force to take on mental health issues facing its workforce. The firm issued a statement saying, “The mission of this task force is to ensure that our lawyers and professional staff have access to help whenever they or their family members experience or are at risk of experiencing mental health or substance use issues.” Learn more about the firm’s “LEADRS” initiative here:

Finally, over at Law360 (a LexisNexis company), check out this roundup of Expert Analysis pieces looking back on a year of the American Bar Association’s mental health pledge. There are pieces on everything from firm culture to meditation, by lawyers at firms like Akin Gump, Morgan Lewis, and more. Find that series here:
