Investment management attorneys advise clients on the formation and operation of private investment funds. These can include hedge funds, private equity funds, hybrid funds, and other pooled investment vehicles. Private investment funds are generally managed by a management company (or sponsor), an entity that has its own set of regulatory, reporting, and compliance requirements. Attorneys assist private equity sponsor clients in meeting these regulatory, reporting, and compliance standards, as well as with the formation of funds, with investor relations and marketing matters, and by documenting private fund investments and other transactions.
Junior investment management associates help senior attorneys with these and other matters and provide statutory and regulatory backup to aid attorneys in counseling registered investment adviser clients. This new resource kit is ideal for understanding the basic tasks that make up much of investment management work, and the regulatory underpinnings of private fund practice.
