Introducing Agent 365 for Protégé™—Your Digital Agent in Microsoft

November 18, 2025 (2 min read)

At Microsoft Ignite 2025, LexisNexis® will debut Agent 365 for Protégé—a proof of concept for a new kind of digital agent designed specifically for legal professionals. Built to work autonomously across Microsoft 365, the agent helps legal professionals stay focused on higher-value analysis and decision-making, while it drives progress in the background—securely, intelligently, and in full view.

An Autonomous Agent Supporting Protégé, Where Legal Professionals Work

Agent 365 for Protégé takes initiative within the guardrails you define—anticipating needs, completing legal tasks for your review across Microsoft 365, and keeping every matter moving securely in the background. Seamlessly embedded across Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, it works like a trusted colleague: joining meetings, flagging issues, initiating tasks, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.

“Agent 365 for Protégé marks a pivotal step in how legal professionals will work with AI,” said Sean Fitzpatrick, CEO, LexisNexis North America, UK & Ireland. “Empowering Protégé with autonomous capabilities inside Microsoft 365 creates an invaluable digital agent that keeps work advancing while attorneys focus on the decisions and insights only humans can deliver. The connection between Protégé and the Agent 365 infrastructure links LexisNexis insight with activities in Microsoft that were never previously possible.”

Smarter Legal Collaboration

Agent 365 for Protégé streamlines legal workflows by connecting people, documents, and decisions so collaboration is effortless, and every action stays secure and accountable:

  • Email your Protégé agent at its dedicated inbox. You’re tied up in meetings all day but need a contract drafted. Email Protégé and request a draft based on your previous work product. From assembling drafts to synthesizing research, preparing summaries, and more, Protégé keeps your work progressing while you focus on strategic priorities.
  • Invite Protégé to Teams calls. You need to draft a liability clause for a supplier agreement. Protégé joins your meeting and drafts the clause for everyone’s review. Ask it to surface relevant insights in real time, distill lengthy documents or propose draft clauses—drawing on authoritative LexisNexis content and your organization’s best work product, all within the meeting.
  • Interact with Protégé in legal documents. You need to evaluate a contract for risks and gaps. Protégé will flag potential issues and tailor the agreement to your client or organization’s needs. Get suggested edits, improved legal language, or alternative clauses, allowing you to finalize faster with high-quality output.

Imagine having another associate on the team—one who keeps every matter on track and every detail in view.

Transparency That Builds Confidence

With Agent 365 for Protégé, visibility and governance come built in. Every action is logged and auditable, giving IT and compliance teams full observability into how and where AI operates. This transparency ensures client confidentiality and professional responsibility are never compromised—reinforcing the foundation of trust that legal work depends on.

Advancing Microsoft’s Vision for Intelligent Work in Legal

“We’re pleased to see LexisNexis extend its trusted legal expertise with Microsoft Agent 365,” said Nirav Shah, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Agent 365. “At Ignite, we’re showcasing how intelligent agents are transforming productivity across the Microsoft ecosystem. As a launch partner, Protégé exemplifies this innovation—helping legal professionals harness AI responsibly, enhance judgment, and deliver greater client value with speed and confidence.”
