Maryland legislators will consider a bill next year aimed at speeding up the process of capping prescription drug prices. The measure, to be sponsored by Del. Jennifer White Holland (D), would allow the state’s Prescription Drug Affordability Board (PDAB) to set upper payment limits for drugs equal to the maximum fair prices negotiated under Medicare.
“While the PDAB has made significant progress, the cost review process has been time consuming,” said letters sent to all state lawmakers by the advocacy organization Maryland Health Care for All, urging them to back the measure. “Now we are asking you to support a proposal which would allow the PDAB to act much more quickly to help all Marylanders afford their drugs and potentially save hundreds of millions of dollars per year.” (PLURIBUS NEWS, WYPR, MARYLAND DAILY RECORD)
