Lex Machina is proud to launch “Full Federal”, which includes the release of the remaining cases in its complete federal district court dataset. This is a momentous milestone in Lex Machina’s journey to bring Legal Analytics to all areas of the law.
Legal Analytics are powerful tools that help legal professionals gain reliable, data-driven insights into the litigation landscape that matters most to them. These insights include valuable information on outcomes such as damages, remedies and findings. This information is critical to know what ultimately happened in the cases you care about.
However, these tools are only as useful as their level of accuracy and comprehensiveness. When a legal practitioner consults litigation analytics to craft strategy, advise their client, or gain new business, they need to be confident that the underlying data used for the creation of the analytics is as accurate and comprehensive as possible.
Today, Lex Machina launches a milestone expansion of our award-winning Legal Analytics, which now completes our federal district court coverage.
Introducing Lex Machina Full Federal
With Lex Machina’s Full Federal, every commercially relevant civil case filed in federal district court will be reviewed to extract high-value findings, remedies, and damages where available. This additional set of analytics comprises the final 15% of our civil federal data, consisting of approximately 500,000 cases.
This week’s launch means that Lex Machina now provides outcome-driven analytics — including damages and case resolutions — for more than 3.7 million commercially relevant civil cases, derived from over 17.5 million documents. The new comprehensive federal district court data set can be further subdivided into 22 practice areas, each of which feature specific valuable focus points relevant to that particular area of law.
By offering outcome analytics for every federal district court case on our platform, Lex Machina empowers litigation teams to leverage accurate, comprehensive analytics for insights into what really happened in the area of federal district court litigation most important to them. These analytics showcase the features that Lex Machina’s customers rely upon, including hundreds of specific facets and unique filters that can be used to focus on practice areas, case types, litigation milestones, document tags, dates, corporate industry, motion grant/deny rates, judge reversal rates, and appellate decisions. As part of Full Federal, there will be new case tags available, including: Admiralty / Maritime, Forfeiture / Penalty, FOIA, Immigration, and RICO.
