Carolina Academic Press Acquires Legal Education Titles from LexisNexis

January 04, 2016

January 4, 2016 — Carolina Academic Press and LexisNexis® Legal & Professional are pleased to announce the acquisition by Carolina Academic Press of approximately 500 LexisNexis® Matthew Bender law school publishing titles. LexisNexis will continue to support and publish their vast collection of Matthew Bender titles sold in the commercial segment.

Keith Sipe, Carolina Academic Press Publisher, notes, “We are very excited to acquire the LexisNexis Legal Education titles and look forward to welcoming LexisNexis authors to the CAP family. The high-quality content of the LexisNexis list is a strong complement to CAP's portfolio of print and digital publications. We will continue the CAP tradition of care and dedication to our authors and to publishing high-quality books at fair prices.”

“As LexisNexis sharpens its focus on developing a wider set of “bridge into practice” solutions for the law school classroom—including Law360®, Lexis Practice Advisor®, Lex Machina® and our research platform Lexis Advance®—the time was right to sell our law school textbook line to a core legal education publisher,” said Steve Errick, Vice President of Research Information at LexisNexis. “Carolina Academic Press has shown its strong commitment to legal education and brings the industry knowledge and resources needed to ensure the long-term success of the LexisNexis textbook line. We look forward to working with CAP to ensure a positive and seamless transition for our authors.”

Carolina Academic Press looks forward to continuing its tradition of quality publications and strong author relationships and in partnering with Lexis Advance in the law school and practice segments. As a LexisNexis alliance publishing partner, Carolina Academic Press will provide links to Lexis Advance from their eBooks. LexisNexis will continue to offer CAP digital products for sale on the LexisNexis website and through its LexisNexis Digital Lending solution.

LexisNexis remains strongly committed to legal education and supporting faculty in educating future lawyers. Beyond its initiatives to provide “bridge into practice” solutions by making its core research products available to the law school classroom, the company builds and continually expands teaching tools, such as the learning platform Lexis® Learn and the LexisNexis® Interactive Citation Workstation, and it partners with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy to foster trial education.
