LexisNexis® Announces Enhanced CounselLink+™ with Protégé™ AI Assistant, Lex Machina® Integration, and Unified Legal Workspace

May 06, 2025

Protégé AI assistant, Lex Machina integration and intelligent reporting redefine how corporate legal departments manage legal work.

NEW YORK — LexisNexis® Legal & Professional, a leading global provider of legal information and analytics, today unveiled the commercial preview of Protégé in CounselLink+, the next-generation Enterprise Legal Management (ELM) platform trusted by corporate legal departments. Protégé, the industry’s leading personalized AI assistant designed to transform legal work, includes tailored insights, matter and invoice summarization, and actionable recommendations for corporate legal departments based on an organization’s own documents, data and workflows. The initial commercial preview focuses on matter and financial management with plans to extend its capabilities across the full ELM lifecycle later this year.

Building on the success of CounselLink+, the integrated ELM and CLM platform will feature significant enhancements across several key areas:

  • Protegé AI Assistant for Legal Workflows: Whether reviewing a complex matter or analyzing an invoice, Protégé in CounselLink+ surfaces key takeaways, financial snapshots, and actionable insights — all in context.
  • AI-Powered Reporting and Insights: Ask plain-language questions or prompts to instantly generate dashboards, surface key trends, and clearly demonstrate the legal department’s impact — no manual analysis
  • Data-Driven Counsel Selection: Access exclusive LexisNexis content and contract templates from Practical Guidance, plus new integration with Lex Machina’s Counsel Selector tool, enabling data-driven law firm selection based on win rates, matter types, and jurisdictions.
  • AI-Powered Contract Lifecycle Management: Extract key clauses, terms, and milestones from signed agreements, significantly reducing the time required during the contracting process. Users can quickly identify information such as the effective date, signature date, initial terms, and more throughout the signed contract.
  • Unified Legal Workspace: Manage matters, invoices, contracts, reports, and collaboration — all from a single, integrated platform built for in-house teams.

"With these groundbreaking enhancements, CounselLink+ continues to evolve as the most comprehensive integrated platform for legal operations," said Pam Gelfond, Vice President of CounselLink. "CounselLink+ delivers the tools in-house legal teams need to move faster, act on better data, and operate as a strategic partner to the business. By combining advanced AI capabilities, expanded ecosystem access, and a truly unified workspace, we're enabling legal departments to work more efficiently, make better-informed decisions, and maximize their strategic value to their organizations."
