LexisNexis Employees Participate in Community Events Across the U.S. to Assist Non-Profit Organizations

July 01, 2009

July 1, 2009 — New York, NY, July 1, 2009 -LexisNexis, a leading global provider of content-enabled workflow solutions, today announced that almost 2,500 of its employees across the United States volunteered last week to assist local non-profit and charitable organizations in their communities.

These volunteer efforts were facilitated by the LexisNexis® Cares community outreach program, part of the company’s overall commitment to corporate responsibility.  Last year, LexisNexis employees contributed more than 9,000 days to support important causes in their communities.

In the Dayton, Ohio area alone, more than 1,000 employees volunteered their time to a variety of causes.  In excess of 500 on-site employees worked on six different projects and approximately 500 more volunteered at off-site locations throughout the greater Dayton area.  They built and decorated bikes and cubbies for children, painted murals that will be distributed to organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club of Dayton, Children's Medical Center and YWCA Dayton, and painted and planted flower pots for distribution to other organizations.  In addition, crews cleaned up a 2-mile local stretch of highway adopted by LexisNexis through the "Adopt a Road" program.

"Our employees worked very hard to provide much-needed assistance and resources to a variety of worthy organizations," said Kurt Sanford, president of LexisNexis Global Operations.  "We are proud of the individual and collective commitments that will help people in their local communities."

"The response from our employees was incredible," said Elizabeth Rector, LexisNexis senior vice president of Corporate Responsibility.  "The enthusiasm of these employees makes a real and meaningful impact in the lives of people living in the local communities where we work."

LexisNexis is dedicated to playing a positive role in local communities, primarily through employee involvement.  Company employees are provided an extraordinary opportunity to directly support non-profit organizations that are important to them.  Events of all shapes and sizes are held around the globe including volunteer events, local fund raisers, volunteer fairs and book and school supply drives.
