LexisNexis To Sell Local Publishing Operations In Argentina, Chile and Mexico to Legal Publishing Group

March 28, 2008

March 28, 2008 — New York, NY, March 28, 2008 - LexisNexis, a leading global provider of business information solutions, today announced the sale of its local legal, tax and regulatory publishing operations in Argentina, Chile and Mexico to Legal Publishing Netherlands Coöperatie U.A (Legal Publishing Group), a partnership formed between a management team from the industry and Palmfund Management LLC (Palmfund), a private equity firm that invests in Latin America. LexisNexis remains committed to the Latin American legal profession and will continue to sell non-local content in the region, including its flagship lexis.com® and nexis.com® services directly to its customers.

LexisNexis has operated local law publishing businesses in Latin America for almost ten years as LexisNexis Argentina, LexisNexis Chile and in Mexico as Dofiscal LexisNexis, and has a number of well-respected brands including Depalma, Abeledo Perrot, Ediciones Tecnicas, and Hyperrenta. Offices and all operations in these locations will transition to Legal Publishing Group to be led by CEO Juan Alberto Castro and a team of industry specialists known for their Latin American expertise in the print and legal editorial sector. The management team already in place at the companies will manage operations in each country. The businesses will operate under long standing brands in each market: Dofiscal in Mexico, Abeledo Perrot in Argentina, and Ediciones Tecnicas in Chile.

“The sale of these high quality publishing businesses in Latin America is a strategic decision for LexisNexis. These are strong brands, but the markets do not offer the size and speed of acceptance of technology-based solutions we are looking for,” said Judy Vezmar, CEO LexisNexis Europe, Canada, Latin America and Africa. “We are confident that customers will be well served by Palmfund’s strong interest in publishing local content while LexisNexis continues serving our customers, including those in the region, with LexisNexis online international content.”

“We are excited about our investment in Legal Publishing Group and its acquisition of the LexisNexis operations in Latin America. We are committed to the growth of these businesses and the further development of products to satisfy the client’s needs in these markets. We have partnered with a seasoned management team that can add significant value to these operations and its clients,” said Carlos E. Gomez, Managing Partner of Palmfund.
