LexisNexis Windward Challenge Raises $90,000 for March of Dimes Georgia

September 10, 2009 — Alpharetta, Ga, September 10, 2009 - The March of Dimes Georgia Chapter will receive more than $90,000 raised by sponsors and racers of the 10th Annual Windward Challenge 5K Run/Walk held last night at the LexisNexis® offices in Alpharetta. The LexisNexis Windward Challenge attracted more than 500 entrants from the metro-Atlanta area.

"LexisNexis has a history of service and contribution to the communities where we work, live and play, and we believe that March of Dimes Georgia is a terrific organization," Jim Peck, CEO, LexisNexis® Risk & Information Analytics Group. "We would like to thank all of our friends, neighbors and employees from the Alpharetta community for participating in and supporting this year's race."

"The March of Dimes is so grateful to the community and LexisNexis for their extraordinary leadership in raising critical dollars for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Family Support Programs," Gannon Gingrey Manning, Chairman of the Board, March of Dimes. "Proceeds will provide education, comfort and support for more than 500 families dealing with the medical and emotional crisis of having a sick newborn. These funds also provide important training of NICU nurses in developmental care principals and customized support for Spanish speaking families. With such community support, we move closer to our vision of a day when every family will know the joy of a healthy baby."

The overall winner of the LexisNexis Windward Challenge and overall men's top finisher was Mitch Novy with a time of 17:14. The overall women's top finisher was Lauren Tamery of with a time of 18:37.

Since 2000, the Windward Challenge has brought together the Windward Parkway corporate and residential communities to raise more than $735,000 for charitable nonprofit organizations in the Atlanta area.

Previous beneficiaries of the Windward Challenge include Camp Twin Lakes, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the National Rape Evidence Project, Habitat for Humanity, Safe America, and the YWCA of Greater Atlanta.
