Vic – Supreme Court reissues Court of Appeal Practice Note SC CA 3 – Civil Appeals

Abstract:

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria has authorised the second revision of Practice Note SC CA 3 – Civil Appeals, which regulates practice and procedure in civil applications and appeals in the Court of Appeal.

The second revision will be published on 14 April 2025 and takes effect on that date, replacing the first revision published on 30 September 2019.

Alongside the reissued practice note, the court will also publish a new registrar’s note in relation to civil applications and appeals.

The new registrar’s note will supersede three previously published registrar’s notes, namely:

  • Registrar’s Note on the Preparation of a Written Case dated 30 September 2019;
  • Registrar’s Note on the Preparation of Application Books dated 30 September 2019; and
  • Guide on the Preparation of a Combined Folder of Authorities dated 30 September 2019.

The court has indicated that both the reissued practice note and new registrar’s note will be available for download from its website on 14 April 2025.
