Abstract:
The Duties Amendment Bill 2025 was introduced and read for a second time in the Legislative Assembly on 9 April 2025. The Bill will amend the Duties Act 2008 (WA) to:
- expand the first home owner duty concession by increasing the property value thresholds for the exemption and for the concession, make the thresholds applying to existing residential dwellings location-dependent, and change the concessional rate of duty; and
- extend the off-the-plan duty concession to 30 June 2026, expand the concession by increasing the property value thresholds and change the types of properties to which the concession can be applied.
The changes introduced by the Bill will apply to transactions entered into on or after 21 March 2025.
