Our Approach to Generative AI

Generative AI has tremendous potential to assist journalists with their work. We are committed to exploring this technology and using it in innovative ways that support our core newsroom values of credibility, reliability, truth, and transparency.

We are also committed to being clear with our readers about our current use of this rapidly advancing, innovative, and exciting technology. Many of the stories you see in your newsletters every day have been assisted by innovative AI tools that help our journalists refine their workflows and quickly, efficiently, and accurately report on news that matters to our audience.

Several of those tools are probably ones our readers will recognize and are also using in their day-to-day work. For example, we are actively using AI, including generative AI, to speed our ability to process large volumes of legal documents, search for information, and assist in the editing process.

However, we use AI tools, journalists in our newsroom will always bear ultimate responsibility for the accuracy, fairness, and comprehensiveness of all we produce.

Each product answers a different part of the same question:
  • Capital Monitor flags what is changing early by tracking policy and political signals.
  • Law360 Australia shows how it plays out in court, explaining what the changes mean in practice
  • MLex reveals how regulators are responding, including investigations and enforcement trends globally.

Used together, they give you a complete line of sight. From early signal, to legal impact, to regulatory risk.

If your role depends on staying ahead of legal developments in Australia while understanding how global enforcement trends may affect you, the combined suite gives you a clear, reliable view of what is happening, what it means, and what to expect next.

Law360 Australia is a bit different from most units within LexisNexis. We employ journalists and write news articles that will look and feel like the Financial Review, Bloomberg, and Reuters, but with a dedicated focus on legal news. Law360 Australia is part of the LexisNexis current awareness portfolio, adding a real‑time legal intelligence layer that complements legal research, analytics, and emerging workflow solutions.

Not at present, but coming.

Legal news adapted for Australian courts, regulators, and law firms and written by journalists, as well as expert analyses written by outside lawyers. Articles are typically exclusive, with content updated throughout the day and headline alerts triggered as court case matters evolve. A daily morning newsletter consolidates news from the previous day. Coverage is practitioner-focused, typically explaining what developments mean in practice, not just that they occurred. Articles connect cases, parties, judges, and firms to build an accumulating legal context over time.

Every working day, as well as weekends when news breaks. We include five articles, not counting expert analysis, in every newsletter. Newsletters are sent in daily in the morning. We also send breaking alerts for major news developments – emails sent to specific subscribers. And we sometimes send special newsletters to cover specific events as well as weekend wrap-ups.

The daily newsletters are emails sent early in the morning before lawyers start their days, usually around 3 or 4 am. The idea is that lawyers can begin their days by reading Law360 Australia. Most of our readers engage with us via their daily newsletters. The newsletters are curated by our top editors and are populated with the latest news in the practice areas and industry covered.

We launch with Financial Services (in June), followed by Commercial Disputes, and Corporate Practice later this year. Financial Services will cover news related to retail and investment banks, hedge funds, private equity firms, superannuation, and crypto firms, among others. Commercial Disputes will cover litigation and arbitration involving major corporations. And Corporate Practice will serve in-house counsel with regulatory and legislative news, as well as coverage of agency enforcement actions playing out in Australia’s courts.

Law360 Australia keeps lawyers current, clarifies legal developments, and helps translate them into faster, more confident client advice.

  • Cuts through complexity — provides clear, concise reporting on court decisions, litigation and regulatory action — reducing time spent reviewing lengthy judgments or filings.
  • Keeps teams current, daily - delivers timely updates and alerts so lawyers stay across developments without manual monitoring.
  • Supports stronger legal analysis — surfaces trends, precedent and enforcement activity, helping lawyers assess risk and refine strategy.
  • Enables faster client advice — translates legal developments into practical implications — allowing quicker, more confident responses to client queries.
  • Feeds thought leadership & BD — identifies emerging issues and trends, supporting client alerts, briefings and proactive engagement.
