Reed Smith Richards Butler LLP

Cheryl has been acting in the past year for a PRC technology group in various HKIAC arbitrations concerning cross-border investment disputes valued at over USD 75 million. In the face of fast-approaching overlapping deadlines for filing various submissions, Cheryl quickly assembled a core team with appropriate experience and expertise in dealing with the subject matter and arbitrations.

Moreover, Cheryl played a pivotal role in securing three high-profile, multinational clients for the firm. Her proactive relationship management has also resulted in long-term retainers and new cross-border legal opportunities. Cheryl is adept at assembling and customizing professional teams of cross-office fee earners, which best corresponds to clients' demands and provides high-quality services in a practical and cost-efficient manner.

Cheryl has gained high recognition from the industry and peers. She was named as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Lawyers in 2024 by China Legal Education (CLECSS) and as one of the Ten Outstanding Women in the Shipping Industry of China by Beyond Shipping. She was also appointed as an arbitrator to the 8th Panel of Arbitrators of the Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Centre (BIAC) and the list of arbitrators of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC).

Outside of law, Cheryl served as an arbitrator for the 2024 FDI Moot (Shenzhen) (https://fdimoot.org/china/) and the Chief Arbitrator of the 21st CIETAC Cup International Commercial Arbitration Moot. She has worked on pro bono projects within the firm and supported the firm's annual charity fundraiser.

Cheryl embodies a growth mindset, consistently seeking opportunities for personal and professional development. She is now pursuing an Executive Master of Laws (ELLM) at Columbia University, deepening her expertise in international law and cross-border transactions.
