As Compliance Manager, Hoshizawa leads a team of 7 (including herself), consisting of employees from various backgrounds. This is the largest sub-team in the Law, Patent & Compliance team in Bayer in Japan. She also took on an additional role as Legal Business Partner for Bayer’s Consumer Health business in Japan.
Recently, Hoshizawa led a case attracting the significant attention of the business leaders in Japan which was likely to turn into a legal dispute, saving large amount of legal fees (approx. JPY 10 mil or more). With her professional work, Hoshizawa not only handles complex labour litigation for the company, such as dismissing the approx. JPY 150 mill claim, but also conducted integrity training for about 430 employees in Japan. As a legal and compliance business partner, she provides practical advices and is seen as a trusted leader.
Hoshizawa sincerely contributes to the legal industry. She published articles in a well-known magazine (Japan Business Law Review), providing hints for young in-house lawyers to succeed. Together with her colleagues, she also responded to inquiries from a nation-wide newspaper, Asahi Shinbun, which resulted in an article. In addition, she fully demonstrated her interdisciplinary collaboration ability, when she took on a role as the leader of a working group (WG) of Governance and Legal Committee of The European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) in Japan, made a presentation at an EFPIA event (Compliance Seminar) in front of large audience as the WG leader, summarising the current market and legal restrictions regarding telemedicine in Japan.
As a young lawyer, Hoshizawa's professional competence is gradually gaining recognition within the industry. She was selected as Japan Rising Star 2024 by GC Powerlist Legal 500, and became the first JILA In-house award winner in in the Compliance category in Individual Awards 2023 (JILA = Japan In-house Lawyers Association). She was also selected as the finalist of ALB Awards 2022 Young Lawyer of the Year (In-House).
