Sam has also demonstrated exemplary leadership in helping expand the firm's client base and securing key clients such as CITIC Group and China CITIC Bank by leveraging his personal network and the firm’s strategic association with East & Concord Partners.
Notably, he represented CITIC Group in transferring a 5.01% shareholding interest in CITIC Limited (00267.HK) to China Huarong for HK$13.6 billion. As the lead Partner, Sam efficiently managed and oversaw all legal work and provided comprehensive legal advice and practical solutions, thereby successfully completing this complex and significant transaction within a tight timeframe. The team led by Sam received several accolades, including the LegalOne Merits (Exemplary) and recognition in LegalOne Deals of the Year (China) 2023.
Sam has also developed a strong interest and expertise in emerging and rapidly evolving areas of law such as fintech, artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, and stablecoin issuance. Sam was shortlisted as a finalist for Fintech Lawyer of the Year at the ALB Hong Kong Law Awards 2024, recognising his exceptional expertise and experience in the fintech sector and his ability to navigate this fast-evolving legal landscape.
Beyond his legal practice, Sam has joined the CONNECTED mentorship scheme of the Young Solicitors' Group as a mentor to share his experience, guidance and career advice with his mentees. He also regularly delivers talks and seminars on various legal topics, which fosters knowledge sharing among diverse audiences across different industries. Furthermore, Sam actively participates in volunteer programmes organised by HandsOn and JC Volunteer Together, focusing on environmental protection and sustainability.
