Ko, as its first General Counsel, set up and led the legal department for the DFX Group, which includes DFX Labs, an SFC deemed licensed crypto exchange, and DFX Custody, a virtual asset custodian. 

With his experiences  advising startups and public companies and his familiarity with digital asset products, he supports the integration of DFX and its parent company, LianLian DigiTech (2598.HK), in implementing their Web3 strategies. He also led the design and development of DFX’s legal operations and contract management system to support stakeholders across legal, finance, procurement, IT, and business teams.

Trained as a scientist and lawyer and possessing legaltech business experiences, Ko has been invited regularly to speak and provide training on data protection, digital assets, and intellectual property from both business and legal perspectives.  He has co-developed and taught a course on legal design, innovation, and professional ethics, which embraces cross-disciplinary collaboration and embeds the use of Gen AI in its assessment framework, at the Faculty of Law, University of Hong Kong. 

For his community contributions, Ko has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award and the Pro Bono and Community Service 10-Year Achievement Award by the Law Society. Ko has obtained degrees in law, business, and science, including the BCL (Oxford) and the MBA (HKUST), and cybersecurity certification from ISC2. He was recognized as an Inter-Pacific Bar Scholar and Research Fellow at the Digital Asset Certification Institute in Switzerland.
