竞天公诚律师事务所 Jingtian & Gongcheng
Ding Haili specializes in private equity / venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border banking, insurance asset management, and live-streaming business. She has advised a broad spectrum of leading investment firms on numerous minority investment deals and has guided startups across diverse industries through all stages of financing, from angel rounds to pre-IPO rounds. Her expertise further extends to representing funds and portfolio companies in multi-billion-USD mergers and acquisitions, as well as assisting offshore banks with dozens of cross-border lending facilities. A client testimonial notes her “exceptional expertise in cross-border compliance, fund structuring, and regulatory licensing” and the client comments that “Haili stands out in the offshore legal space. Her ability to translate complex regulations into actionable advice has been critical to our success in mainland China and Hong Kong.”
Ms. Ding established and developed two new practices for the firm—insurance asset management transactions and MCN (Multi-Channel Network) engagements—building both from scratch. Over the past year, she led high-value projects worth billions for top-tier insurance asset management companies, financial institutions, startups, state-owned enterprises, and KOLs and MCNs, earning strong client recognition.
Her international qualifications form the foundation of these substantial contributions. Admitted to practice in both Mainland China and New York State, Ms. Ding leverages her four years of experience in New York and over two years in Hong Kong to demonstrate deep proficiency in both cross-border and purely overseas transactions. This background has markedly strengthened the firm's capabilities in foreign-related and overseas legal work. Over the past year, she has brought in dozens of new clients—including private equity funds, offshore banks, elite insurance institutions, emerging startups, KOLs, MCNs, and high-net-worth individuals—culminating in more than 80 matters.
One of the highlights of the period was leading the overseas expansion of a leading entertainment platform service provider. As lead counsel, Ding facilitated the client's successful entry into over 10 countries and more than 400 cities worldwide. A central challenge involved navigating a patchwork of international entertainment regulations while safeguarding the client's "interactive" business model across stringent regulatory markets and legal gray areas. To address this, she devised an innovative cross-border compliance matrix that classified jurisdictions by risk profile, outlining tailored market-entry strategies for each tier, and systematically coordinated specialized local counsel to address common legal issues collaboratively.
Beyond her professional career, Ms. Ding maintains a robust pro bono commitment. She regularly provides free legal consultations at community outreach events for vulnerable groups, including retired seniors and unemployed individuals, and has offered uncompensated legal assistance to elderly residents in two aging housing complexes involved in property disputes.
