Between September 2024 and August 2025, Alan Zhang led Zhong Lun Law Firm’s Hong Kong Debt Capital Markets practice, establishing the team and driving its ascent to fourth place among legal counsels for joint lead managers by June 2025. His remit centres on cross-border financings and bond issuances, coupled with industry recognition: appointment in July 2025 to the MOX Science and Technology Innovation Bond Certification Committee, and firm-level awards including “2024 Outstanding Legal Counsel (CN)” at the DMI China Offshore Bond Awards (January 2025) and “Annual Outstanding Legal Service Provider” at the MOX Legal Service Awards (March 2025). Alan also received the LexisNexis® 40 UNDER 40 Greater China 2024 award and the ALB Asia 40 Under 40 2025.

Alan's commercial contribution is evident through his pivotal role in a series of landmark capital market transactions, including Henan Railway’s U.S.$400 million bond issuance (January 2025), Qingdao City Construction’s U.S.$1.35 billion dual bond offerings (September 2024 and April 2025), and Jinan Hi-Tech’s U.S.$250 million issuance (September 2024). His leadership on a complex offshore bond for a major Chinese LGFV navigated heightened market volatility and underwriters’ demands for enhanced disclosures; through careful negotiations with international counsel and underwriters, he secured favourable pricing, with the offering ultimately oversubscribed.

Zhang couples delivery with growth. He completed specialised courses and, at Allen & Overy Shearman, adopted Harvey to streamline workflows, strengthening client engagement. He also contributed to market education through large-scale trainings with banks, chambers and clearing houses on bondholder rights, keepwell agreements, and Yulan Bonds. Looking ahead, his focus is on technological innovation, sustainable finance and global market integration. He is building practical frameworks for ESG issuances, and working to align cross-border regulations—connecting legal excellence with market realities.
