Bryan Chan
Senior Associate
Squire Patton Boggs

Bryan Chan’s year reflects public service, cross-border capability and delivery under pressure. He holds public appointments as an Ordinary Member of the Market Misconduct Tribunal, an Adjudicator of the Immigration Tribunal and a Member of the Appeal Panel (Housing) of the HKSAR, ruling on more than 40 cases over the year.

In practice, he advises on contentious and non-contentious matters, with broad experience across employment, corporate, commercial, regulatory, and taxation issues, and has delivered positive outcomes in cases handled in the year. He also handles complex internal investigations and external investigations initiated by various enforcement bodies, demonstrating his ability to manage sensitive and high-stakes matters.

He has successfully attracted new clients by leveraging connections fostered through his quadruple qualifications (Hong Kong, New York, Greater Bay Area, and England & Wales) and his role on the Committee on Legal Profession of the Council for the Promotion of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation. He benefits from the global reach of Squire Patton Boggs, where he currently practises as part of a firm with over 40 offices across five continents. He led a confidential, high-value legal review spanning more than 15 jurisdictions on a one-week timeline, coordinating local counsel across time zones, proposing a creative solution to an unforeseen civil-law issue, and using a tracker and targeted delegation to deliver on time. His growth path includes first-class degrees in civil engineering and law (plus a PCLL with distinction), appointments to the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre panels of arbitrators and mediators, Mainland and client secondments, and regular participation in regional seminars. His vision is a knowledge-driven, technology-enabled profession with increasing reliance on AI; internally he created a knowledge-sharing system to capture key issues and practical know-how to improve speed and consistency and is exploring compliant AI use for research and knowledge management. His portfolio spans Hong Kong and a wide set of Asian jurisdictions.
