Helen Pang
Counsel
Bird & Bird

Helen Pang has been focusing on high-impact IP and brand-protection mandates with clear business outcomes. She continues to advise AVIA (Asia Video Industry Association), an association representating many of the major television and streaming video companies in Asia as well as the ecosystem of companies that support them, on legal strategies to address and tackle online piracy in Hong Kong, including exploring novel and innovative enforcement mechanisms before the Hong Kong courts. She recently assisted a global leading new energy technology company with due diligence on key patents to be acquired, and she regularly assists retail conglomerates and financial institutions on ongoing APAC brand-enforcement work that requires urgent investigations, police reporting, platform takedowns and negotiations.

Her business development results are quantifiable. Since rejoining Bird & Bird in December 2024, she has already secured the firm’s appointment as regional counsel for a capital markets firm’s enforcement matters and cross-sold due-diligence projects to the firm's corporate team. She has also unlocked long-pursued IP and advisory mandates from existing clients, including the Hong Kong Airport Authority and AVIA. Internally, she is spearheading the IP practice’s marketing and publication programme, leading a team of over twenty-five associates across four Greater China offices to raise the firm's profile and visibility. Her approach emphasises empowering junior lawyers to take ownership and make decisions, with structured execution against a strategic publication plan. For professional growth, she actively participates in industry associations and chambers of commerce, serves as an Honorary Tutor at the LKS Faculty of Medicine at The University of Hong Kong, and continues broader thought-leadership and networking. Looking ahead, she aims to build a leading cross-border IP practice with a focus on brand protection and litigation and a niche in healthcare and life sciences. She exemplifies the qualities of a Counsel on a pathway to long-term growth and partnership —strategic planning, cross-practice collaboration, strengthened client relationships and continuous professional development.
