Karen Luk
Senior Associate
P. C. Woo & Co.

Karen Luk’s practice centres on complex commercial litigation, fraud recovery, and cross-border enforcement. As the primary case handler on various multi-party fraud and asset-recovery matters with parallel proceedings across multiple jurisdictions, Karen addressed the challenges of aligning overseas counsel, experts, and stakeholders by setting clear communication channels, convening regular strategy meetings, and fostering trust for timely information sharing — culminating in favourable judgments, overseas freezing relief and preservation of key assets.

These included, in the review period, a landmark Hong Kong judgment against a fraudster involving an alleged investment of over HK$200 million, followed by securing recognition of the judgment in both the United Kingdom and Singapore and obtaining freezing orders in the UK. Quantifiably, she exceeded her billings KPI while leading high-stakes disputes and continuing to obtain repeat instructions from major corporate clients. She further expanded her portfolio with the addition of key clients into new practice areas. Her growth mindset includes early adoption of AI-powered document-review and case-management tools, ongoing education on data privacy law developments, and leadership workshops. She mentors juniors and female litigators, pairing technical training with soft-skills development. Karen’s vision for the profession emphasises technology, accessibility, and innovation: strategically deploying AI and legal tech to improve efficiency and affordability; promoting alternative dispute-resolution mechanisms to enhance access to justice; and building an inclusive pipeline of talent through mentoring. Her cross-jurisdictional work includes enforcing Hong Kong judgments in various jurisdictions, recognising PRC judgments and arbitral awards in Hong Kong, and handling a shareholder dispute with entities across Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Malaysia, including assistance with Malaysian winding-up proceedings. She shares litigation experience through seminars with PRC, Singapore and UK counterparts, particularly on insolvency-related topics.
