Phil is a senior Hong Kong and English dual-qualified lawyer experienced in the startup, technology, financial services, human resources, insurance, commodities, and transport sectors. He built Bitget’s Commercial, Intellectual Property, Dispute Resolution, and Employment Legal Teams.

Primarily an international disputes specialist earlier in his career (litigation and arbitration), Phil continues to maintain a strong track-record of resolving complex, high-value, multi-jurisdictional contentious matters – often on highly favourable terms. He is the only lawyer to have headed both disputes and employment legal functions at 2 of the top 10 global crypto exchanges, successfully navigating business risks, people issues, and sensitive regulatory developments impacting operations. On the commercial side, Phil has closed numerous multimillion-dollar deals with renowned global brands, including more recently La Liga, UNICEF, MotoGP, and Line.

Phil has 14+ years’ international law firm and in-house experience based out of Hong Kong, Singapore, and United Kingdom, having handled legal matters involving 100+ jurisdictions globally. He built high-performance teams in 4 global businesses: 3 fast-scaling technology startups and a 170-year-old traditional insurer.

2025 was a landmark year for Phil; he won 3 prestigious legal industry awards. LexisNexis honoured him as a top “40 UNDER 40” lawyer, and his Bitget Legal Team won LexisNexis’ “ELITE” team award recognising contributions to innovation and technology. To top this off, Phil was crowned “Young Lawyer of the Year” by Thomson Reuters Asian Legal Business.

Phil obtained, on The University of Manchester entrance scholarships, a Mini-MBA, LLM in International Business & Commercial Law, and LLB (Hons).
