These latest accolades, following his recognition in the 2024 Greater China List, alongside being named an “ALB Hong Kong Rising Star” in 2024 and a consecutive finalist for “Fintech Lawyer of the Year” at the ALB Hong Kong Law Awards in both 2024 and 2025, position him as a visionary leader shaping the future of legal practice.

Sam’s practice showcases a powerful blend of professionalism, legal excellence, and an unwavering commitment to client success. He played a pivotal role in the landmark deal advising CITIC Group on a HK$13.6 billion share sale, which was awarded “China Business Law Journal: Deals of the Year 2024 – M&A”. His proficiency in complex, high-stakes transactions is further demonstrated in his role as the lead Partner regularly advising China CITIC Bank across multiple branches on numerous sizable loan transactions exceeding a total value of RMB12 billion. 

Sam recently guided a leading artificial intelligence (AI)-powered cloud platform through a strategic multi-jurisdictional expansion into Hong Kong. His work was specifically commended by the judging panel at the China Business Law Awards 2025 for delivering “exceptional strategic guidance and robust support” on the corporate restructuring and legal framework for the client’s data centre development in Hong Kong. His involvement continued through to the client's successful launch of an AI agent application, where he provided comprehensive advice on the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape, including AI regulations, cross-border data transfer, and biometric data protection.

Sam has cultivated profound expertise in emerging and dynamic areas of law such as fintech, cybersecurity, AI, digital assets, and real-world asset tokenisation. He actively shares his insights through publications in the China Business Law Journal and talks at cross-border seminars. He is also a co-contributor to the Hong Kong Chapter of the Chambers Global Practice Guides: Equity Finance for both the 2024 and 2025 editions.
