Suppose you are asked to prepare a comparison of the wage deduction requirements and prohibitions in Illinois, New York and Texas. The Lexis Practice Advisor State Law Comparison Tool available in Lexis Practice Advisor helps make this project quick and easy. This feature allows researchers to compare laws across multiple states so they can efficiently and effectively advise their clients on a variety of Labor & Employment, Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation, Data Security & Privacy and Intellectual Property & Technology multijurisdictional issues.
Launch the Lexis Practice Advisor State Law Comparison Tool directly from the above-mentioned practice areas.
To produce a comparison document, start by clicking on the Get Started link:
The practice area will automatically be selected according to the page from which you launched. Here we launched the comparison from the Labor & Employment page, so that practice area is already selected. However, you can switch this to another practice area by accessing the pull-down menu.
Next, select the high-level topic appropriate for your project. Since this question is related to wages, we will select the Wage and Hour topic.
Then select the states you want included in your report. Here, we will click on Illinois, New York and Texas.
Then, click Continue and select the specific question(s) you are researching. Here we are selecting only one question, but you may select multiple. Then click Download Report and select your delivery options.
You can choose a Microsoft® Excel® chart or Word or PDF report showing the wage deduction requirements and prohibitions in the states you have selected side by side (Excel) or one right after the other (Word or PDF) with links to the full text of the cited laws within the Lexis Advance service.
The Lexis Practice Advisor State Law Comparison Tool will be available in additional practice areas in the future.
