Librarian Relations Consultant Research Tip: Quickly refine search results by publisher

It’s easy to refine a search result on the Lexis Advance® service to a specific publisher of interest. After conducting a search, note that Publisher is a filter on the left at the bottom of the Filters pane. The screenshot below is an example from a search in News content on Lexis Advance: headline (boeing) and (recall or ground!) and length > 1000. The Publisher filter is open, and you’ll see a list of publishers by name in the results.

If you use Filters often, you’ll notice two traits that are different with the Publisher filter.

  1. The list of publishers is in alphabetical order, not results order. I really appreciate this feature because I can quickly scan an alphabetical listing for the publisher I want, for example, Atlantic Media, Inc., instead of having to carefully read the list to find this publisher if it was in results order.
  2. The list of publishers is not limited to the top 20 or first 20; it reflects ALL publishers in the results. For my workflow, this is very helpful and saves me a lot of time.

Utilize this filter to pinpoint your trusted and favorite publishers easily!
