Arizona Extends Energy Tax Breaks for Solar

Arizona recently extended its sales tax exemption and investment tax credit for solar energy devices installed within the state.  The sales tax exemption was set to expire and has now been extended to 2016.  The investment tax credit has been extended through 2018.

The legislation (Arizona H.B. 2700) also extends a 10% investment tax credit on solar PV (A.R.S. 43-1164) until December 31, 2018.  Unlike the federal investment tax credit, the Arizona investment tax credit can be assigned by the property owner to an installer or a provider of finance by completing a state-provided form.  This makes it easier for property owners and developers to monetize the credit.
