Citizenship Question on 2020 Census Sparks Multiple Lawsuits - UPDATED Mar. 28, 2018

On March 26, 2018, Commerce Sec. Wilbur Ross published this memo and stated: "I have determined that reinstatement of a citizenship question on the 2020 decennial census is necessary to provide complete and accurate data in response to the DOl request."  California Attorney General Xavier Becerra filed suit against Sec. Ross on March 27, 2018.  "At least 12 states signaled Tuesday that they would sue to block the Trump administration from adding a question about citizenship to the 2020 census, arguing that the change would cause fewer Americans to be counted and violate the Constitution." - NYT, Mar. 27, 2018.
