"On May 7, 2013, the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington granted preliminary approval of a settlement agreement entered in the nationwide class action lawsuit B.H., et al. v. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, et al. (also referred to as the ABT Settlement Agreement, as the case was originally captioned). The lawsuit challenged the practices of the Executive Office for Immigration Review and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services with respect to Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) for asylum applicants. On October 19, 2013, the parties submitted a revised settlement agreement to the District Court with two clarifications. Please find attached to this email the Supplemental Class Notice Regarding Amendment of Settlement Agreement and Attorneys’ Fees, as well as a redlined version of the ABT Settlement Agreement, showing the changes that were made to the agreement." - E-Mail from EOIR to Editor, Sept. 27, 2013.
