CAPAC to DHS: Expand DACA, TPS for Philippines, More

CAPAC Recommendations on Immigration Enforcement and Administrative Relief:

  • DHS should keep families together by expanding deferred action.

  • DHS should make administrative changes to DACA so that more people may benefit
    from the program.

  • DHS should immediately designate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for the entire

  • Expand the provisional unlawful presence waiver process to all persons who are
    statutorily eligible for the waiver and can immediately benefit from it.

  • Interpret “extreme hardship” broadly.

  • Refrain from prioritizing individuals with only immigration law violations as a
    priority for removal.

  • Narrow civil enforcement priorities and improve implementation of prosecutorial

  • Limit deportations without hearings.

  • Fundamentally change detainer practice and policy.

  • End 287 (g) and the Secure Communities Program.
