California Insurance Commissioner Applauds Ceres for Insurer Climate Change Survey Report

California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones has applauded Ceres for releasing its report, Insurer Climate Risk Disclosure Survey: 2012 Findings & Recommendations, which analyzes responses to the Climate Risk Disclosure Survey administered by California, New York, and Washington.

"Ceres' report is a thorough review and analysis of the hundreds of individual responses submitted by insurance companies detailing their response to the impact of climate change," said Commissioner Jones. "This report will be a valuable tool in the discussion about climate change and its impact on the insurance industry."

California has taken the lead in administering the NAIC's Climate Risk Disclosure Survey since its inception in 2009, and is the only state to administer it every year since then. Individual company survey results are available to the public and can be found on the Department of Insurance's Web Site.

"Climate risk is something that insurers and regulators need to be thinking about, and Ceres report helps continue the discussion on this important issue," added Jones.
