USPTO To Implement $118 Annual Fee To Maintain PTO Registration (Final Rule)


Portions of 37 CFR. Parts 1 and 11 were made final by the USPTO.  The final rule was published in the Federal Register / Vol 73  No.222 / Monday, November 17, 2008 / Rules and Regulations 67750 - 67759. Some provisions include a new requirement which has been established for a "practitioner maintenance fee" of $118.00 to be paid in advance by all registered practitioners to the Office.  The due date will be sent to each practitioner and the fee may be adjusted periodically. Penalty for non-payment can include a late fee as a penalty or administrative suspension. There is also a requirement that each practitioner notify the Office of current contact information and any changes.
