Class Action Securities Lawsuit Filed Against American Apparel

BENSALEM, Pa. - Law Offices of Howard G. Smith announced Aug. 25 that a class action lawsuit has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on behalf of all persons or entities who purchased the common stock of American Apparel Inc. (AMEX:APP) between Dec. 20, 2006, and Aug. 17, 2010.

American Apparel is a designer, manufacturer and retailer of fashion apparel for women, men, children and pets. The complaint alleges that during the class period, the company and certain of its executive officers and/or directors violated federal securities laws by issuing material misrepresentations to the market concerning American Apparel's operations and financial performance, thereby artificially inflating the price of the company's securities.

No class has yet been certified. Putative class members have until Oct. 25 to move for lead plaintiff status.
