CHICAGO - DRI - The Voice of the Defense Bar recently announced that J. Michael Weston and Laura E. Proctor have been elected to the DRI Executive Committee as second vice president and secretary-treasurer, respectively.
Weston and Proctor became the newest officers of DRI at the DRI Annual Meeting held in San Diego. DRI is the world's largest organization of civil defense lawyers with more than 22,500 members.
A defense lawyer for more than 30 years, Weston has been a member of DRI since 1985. Proctor joined DRI in 1996 and has worked as a defense lawyer for 18 years. Each has previously served as a National Director for DRI.
As a founding member of Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based Lederer Weston Craig PLC, Weston specializes in product liability, commercial litigation, tort defense, insurance coverage and bad faith litigation. He is a member of DRI's Product Liability, Toxic Torts, Trial Tactics, Technology, Insurance and Diversity committees, and a former chair of the DRI Public Policy and 2008 Annual Meeting Committees.
Proctor works as associate general counsel for Louisiana Pacific Corporation, where she is responsible for all aspects of the company's litigation. Based in Nashville, Tenn., she was a founding member of DRI's Corporate Counsel Committee and served as committee chair for DRI's Alternative Dispute Resolution and Young Lawyers Committees.
Weston and Proctor join DRI's other Executive Committee members: President R. Matthew Cairns, President-Elect Henry Sneath and First Vice President Mary Massaron Ross.
