Miller Barondess, LLP Names Dan Miller Partner

LOS ANGELES - Miller Barondess LLP, a leading law firm specializing in complex litigation and trial work, has announced it has named Dan Miller a partner of the firm.

During his tenure, Miller has been instrumental in raising the firm's success rates to new heights. He joins his father, Skip Miller, and two Boalt Law School classmates, Sasha Frid and Brian Procel, as the firm's fourth partner.

Miller has a considerable track record of success. His creative edge to legal strategy has led him to a multitude of victories in real estate, entertainment, employment, intellectual property and commercial litigation cases.

He has obtained a multimillion-dollar award, including punitive damages, for age discrimination, age-based harassment and constructive discharge. He also obtained a preliminary injunction preventing a lender from foreclosing on a large condominium project based on impossibility of performance due to the economic crisis. In addition, Miller obtained a complete defense verdict after a court trial on a $30 million claim in a real estate partnership dispute.

After filing a summary judgment motion in a real estate dispute, Miller obtained a complete dismissal of a $4 million finder's fee claim in connection with the purchase of a $200 million property on behalf of his land developer client. He also represented one of the largest U.S. homebuilders in a multimillion-dollar partnership dispute over a residential development project. In entertainment matters, he successfully defended a prominent artist management company in a multimillion-dollar lawsuit for invasion of privacy, sexual harassment, unfair competition and other claims; and obtained a dismissal of all claims against the same management company in defense of a lawsuit for unfair competition and interference with contract.

In addition to his litigation experience, Miller has worked on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and intellectual property licensing agreements. Deciphering transactional documents and working on corporate finance transactions has given him a unique perspective. His experience also includes representing a Fortune 500 biotechnology company in both litigation and transactional matters.

He has represented several of the world's leading investment banks, a public gaming company, an online movie distribution company and other public companies in various industries. In entertainment, Miller has represented Sean Connery, an NBA All-Star and the rock music band Buckcherry. Miller also has extensive pro bono experience, including obtaining over $3 million from the federal government on behalf of a client who lost a family member in the Sept. 11 tragedy.
