California Federal Magistrate Denies Expedited Discovery In BitTorrent Copyright Case

SAN FRANCISCO - Lamenting that "the technology that enables copyright infringement has outpaced technology that prevents it," a California federal magistrate judge on March 30 nonetheless denied a copyright plaintiff's motion for expedited discovery in a John Doe file-sharing case (Hard Drive Productions Inc. v. Does 1-90,   No. 11-3825, N.D. Calif.; 2012 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 45509).
