Claims Against Catholic Church Over Artificial Insemination Plausible, Judge Rules

CINCINNATI - A parochial school teacher who was artificially inseminated raises "plausible claims" that a Catholic archdiocese illegally discriminated against her by firing her because of her pregnancy, an Ohio federal judge held March 29 after waiting for and then using guidance from an opinion by the U.S. Supreme Court on the constitutionality of the "ministerial exception" to Title VII (Christa Dias v. Archdiocese of Cincinnati, et al., No. 1:11-cv-00251, S.D. Ohio; 2012 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 43240).
