Missouri Federal Judge Grants Motion For Jurisdictional Discovery In HIPAA Suit

ST. LOUIS - A Missouri federal judge on April 12 granted a motion to conduct jurisdictional discovery in a class complaint accusing the operators of a St. Louis medical facility of failing to protect patients' personal information when a unencrypted laptop was stolen in December 2010 (Rita Barricks v. Barnes-Jewish Hospital, et al., No. 11-1386, E.D. Mo.; 2012 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 51422).
