9th Circuit: Exemption Denied For Homestead; Debtor Not Owner Of Property

SAN FRANCISCO - A panel of the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on April 23 ruled that a bankruptcy court properly determined that a debtor was not entitled to claim a homestead exemption because she was not actually the rightful owner of the property in question (Ramona G. Fontaine v. Robert L. Conn $(In Re: Ramona G. Fontaine$), No. 10-609050, Chapter 7, 9th Cir.; 2012 U.S. App. LEXIS 8146).
