Companies Agree To Pay $6.8M For Injuries To Natural Resources In Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. - The U.S. Department of Justice on April 24 announced that Freeport-McMoRan Corp. and Freeport-McMoRan Morenci Inc. have agreed to pay $6.8 million to resolve claims from the federal government and the State of Arizona that the companies are liable for damages to natural resources as a result of releases from the Morenci copper mine (United States of America, et al. v.
