$275,000 Settlement Resolves Displaced Workers' WARN Act Claim

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - A global private equity firm will pay $275,000 to settle a claim that it violated the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988 (WARN Act) when it shut down a company that administered employee incentive and reward programs, according to a settlement agreement that received preliminary approval May 7 from a Tennessee federal judge (Ron Kizer v. Summit Partners, L.P.,  No. 1:11-cv-38, E.D. Tenn.; 2012 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 63795).
