Pennsylvania Federal Judge Denies Injunction In Challenge To Birth Control Mandate

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A Pennsylvania federal judge on Jan. 11 denied a request for a preliminary injunction in a case challenging the "birth control mandate" in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), saying that a for-profit, secular corporation cannot assert free exercise of religion rights under the First Amendment (Conestoga Woods Specialties Corp. v. Kathleen Sebelius, et al., No. 12-6744, E.D. Pa.; 2013 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 444).
