EPA Says Mining Companies Will Pay $618,000 Over Reporting Of Toxic Releases

SAN FRANCISCO - A regional office of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Feb. 6 announced that three subsidiaries of Barrick Gold Corp. will pay $278,000 in fines over their failures to correctly report releases of toxic chemicals and spend an additional $340,000 to conduct an environmentally beneficial project.
