Illinois Panel Partly Reverses Ruling In Coverage Suit Over Priest's Sexual Abuse

CHICAGO - An Illinois appeals panel on May 13 reversed a lower court's summary judgment ruling in favor of a Catholic religious order's general liability insurer in a coverage dispute arising from a priest's alleged molestation of minors but affirmed the lower court's grant of summary judgment in favor of the insured's nonprofit multiple-peril and excess insurers (Empire Indemnity Insurance Co. v. The Chicago Province of the Society of Jesus, et al., Nos. 1-11-2346 and 1-11-2653 $(cons.$), Ill. App., 1st Dist., 1st Div., 2013 Ill. App. LEXIS 306).
